Make skin-colored slime
In my weeks-long hunt to discover the recipe for latex, I came across a very simple recipe for slime. This video shows how I took the recipe for green slime and turned it into flesh-colored slime.
I invited some kids over for the experiment, and one of them kept hunting for a way I could possibly be related to her. She decided she needed an aunt with whom she could do fun science experiments.
I took the job, of course.
So here goes.
RECIPE FOR SKIN COLORED SLIME:
1/4 cup school glue mixed with 1/4 cup cold water
Add skin-tone makeup foundation to the glue/water mix
Stir 2 Tbsp borax into 1/4 cup water
Pour borax mix into glue mix. Stir. Get slime. Play.
This is great Marty! My kids will have a blast with this! We are planning a community party for Halloween, I think I’ll let the kids make some flesh colored slime to give away to the other kids.
Ugh! It looks like Frankenstein’s skin! Cool Halloween project.
It could also look like barf with a few peas and carrots mixed in…perfect for that Halloween Jack O Lantern that’s been out partying all night.
Does this dry out quickly or stick to carpet? Inquiring moms want to know.

To answer your question, this stuff does stick to clothes and stuff. Easy to clean off tile floors, but carpet would be a problem. Have them play with slime in the kitchen or outside. : )
Homemade slime is a fun idea, though. And the glue is water-soluble, so if you use a tinting agent that comes out with water, you’ve got a great kids’ craft project that will clean up easier than clay. You could also color it brown and make a spilled-coffee or soda gag joke from it. Good for rainy days–anything to keep the kids busy! Thanks, Marta!
